[Heathkit] 28.635

FWIW, I can't hear it at all on my rig in the house with my attic dipole
(too much color burst from everybody else in the neighborhood!), but it's
about S2 on my mobile (Radio Shack HTX-10 with a modified CB antenna)
sitting in my driveway. Sure seems to be vertical alright.
Reminds me just a bit of the old 'woodpecker' OTH radar that the Russians
used to use, only with much faster modulation characteristics. I wouldn't
surprise me if it was some type of radar or something along that line.
I wonder if we're hearing the fundamental or a harmonic. 10 meters seems
like an odd place to play radar.
Atmospheric sounding perhaps? The gang up at MIT used to go to Greenland
about this time every year and pump RF into the aurora just to see what
would happen. Maybe they're at it once again.

Just a thought,
I heard an S5 carrier at 28634.6 on my 756 pro - dialed that fx into my S10
and also heard it. I turned off the main power breaker and it went away.
Turned the juice back on and found the one breaker that killed the signal.
The carrier was being caused by a Samsung VCR/DVD player. The SMPS and or
readout is a great transmitter. I have had vcr's and other digital readout
devices cause interference from hf to vhf.
My nearest neighbors are 1500 feet away so when I kill the main power it is
quiet. If you have neighbors close by you can kill your power and still be
getting interference from them.
If it is aliens trying to phone home it will be interesting!!

I have been hearing the same signal all day at S 9. Radio is IC-751,
antenna is
tri band beam (frozen) towards the north. I hate winters. :-) By
the way,
I am in SE New Brunswick.
Makes me wonder if the signal isn't from a satelite ? It's far to
strong all the
time even when I don't hear anything else on 10 meters. Not even CW
beacons.
