[Heathkit] Heathkit Mohican, The case looks fabulous

Hi All,

Today I got the cabinet for the Heathkit Mohican back from being painted
and it looks absolutely wonderful. The man that gave me the Mohican
works part time at a local auto body shop where he does the
environmental paperwork for them (apparently a nightmare here in
California). So he took the case and the back panel cover that holds
the battery pack down to the shop.

They color matched the battery cover color as that piece was in the best
condition, took the case down to bare metal where it had developed
"pimples", primered it and painted it. I'd have to say that it probably
looks "better" than new. He did tell me to be careful for the first
month, the same instructions that they give car owners after repainting
them. Apparently even though it's "baked" it takes that long to fully
"cure". So I found a nice place out of the way on a high shelf where
I'll let it sit while I do other work on it.

In the meantime, I I've got all new electrolytic capacitors on order for
it (I had to order some for another radio anyway) and I'll take care of
that and then align the set while waiting for the cabinet to "cure".
Probably the "oldest" looking thing on the set will the that large whip
antenna. The top "screw on thingy" was missing so I fastened a metal
"spacer" in it's place with a couple small nuts and covered it with
hotglue as that was the best I could do.

It's getting a new speaker from the shop where I work, new capacitors,
new paint job, the metal knobs were polished, the set ought to look like
a million bux!
