[Heathkit] HG-10 -VFO power supply, DX-60B

There is just too much voltage swing between key up
and key down even if you increase the size of the
filter capacitors. It doesn't take much of a power
supply to run the VFO and using it does make a whole
lot of difference.

As for the TR Switch: Most of the circuits that were
in the various handbooks and magazines back in the
1950s and 1960s used a 6AH6 tube. They do pretty much
isolate the receiver from the transmitter. However,
they also tend to generate all sorts of harmonics and
do casue a lot of TVI.

I had one that I built around 1960 that I used with my
original DX-100 and Hallicrafters S-85. Still have it
around somewhere. But, I wouldn't think of using it
these days.

Would it help to replace the filter caps in the DX-60B
with a larger capacitance value to help stabilize
voltage to the VFO?

Also, this DX-60B has an electronic T-R switch
modification in it. This involves an added tube, and
was described in a QST article. I could never really
use the T-R switch, though, because the transmitter
signal still got through to the receiver so strong it
was scary. Anybody familiar with this modification?
