[Heathkit] My Lonely SB-620

Hello to group.
I have a nice SB-620 that I resurrected from the dead from a junkfest many
years ago.
I have used it over the years with my Yaesu FT-101 (sorry folks) that
actually has a RCA
output jack for the IF of 3108 KHz.
I was able to tune down the SB-620 from the original Heathkit IF and it has
worked happily for years.
I am considering trying to use it with my Kenwood 570 or Icom 706 (again
apologies)
that have IF's of 8.83 or 9.01 KHz. Having followed this list over the
years, I realize it is almost impossible to locate the proper coils for the
conversion.
Does it make sense to build a small oscillator at the appropriate
differential frequency, then mix the IF and oscillator so that the sum /
difference would be 3180 ? I could even make a small narrow filter and then
inject the 3180 into the SB-620. Am I making this too difficult?
Yea or nay would be interesting.
