I have a Heath Cantenna with a gallon of mineral oil. After all these
years (20) the mineral oil has not given me a problem.
Tnx,

Hi George,

The resistor that Heath used in its dummy is a 100 watt resistor.
In
the oil bath
it will dissipate 2KW for 2 minutes. The older Heath cans had a chart
on
the side to give you those figures.
I believe that the ARRL had a load in a handbook sometime back that was
built around 2 watt resistors
and would handle the same kind of power. You can get a resistor from
Mouser that will do the job without all that
soldering and fabrication.
