[Heathkit] Docs for Heath Marine Direction Finder MR-21A?

I need some docs for a sick Heath Marine Direction Finder MR-21A.

Bought it from that 'oft dubious ebay source and received a 
less-intact-than-described device.

It powers up and plays but all but the strongest signals are
distorted.  This thing is supposed to have a real hot receiver
and I want to try it at the Office as the place is pretty RF
tight.

The seller said there was "one black wire just hanging" so
he grounded it.  He speculates it had a different home and
may have been related to the AGC circuitry.

He provided no papers at all, not even a schematic, so I am
flying blind at the moment.

Anyone have any docs, please?
