[Heathkit] SB-200 Talk Back

Funny you should mention Amana refrigerator. We picked up a new one about
3 years ago. The original Amana lasted (wife's words) 27 years. It's now
in the basement keeping my beer cold. As you point out , these new
refrigerators make some of the weirdest and darnest noises during the
running cycle and especially when it went to cut off and then to standby.
Ours makes sounds like submarine sonar, does various renditions of
gurgling and bubbling type sounds, and also various swishing sounds at
various speeds. Amana customer support assured me this was "normal" for
today's refrigerators and after several years(undefined) of operation
should not be noticeable. It's still weird when you hear it late at night
when all is quiet.
Today's refrigerators have their own version of talk-back. Now, if my
lamps or the oven start talking back, it's time to call in the Exorcist.
