To all; With much help from the group the problem with my SB-1000 has
been solved. I have answered as many members as I could, individually-to
all others my thanks.
   In brief, the 3-500z was bad. Changing to a new tube cured the
difficulty. If you elect to refurbish this amp(with great care!), tighten
the set screws which hold the tuning verniers to the plate and load
capacitors, otherwise as I found out, you may be adjusting the knobs
only, not the capacitors. Thanks again, great group. Charlie. K0GPF
