This is true of most BA rigs and accessories, though unless
rendered necessary due to a physically damaged device or a
critical part that is unobtanium it is to be discouraged.

I own a pair of Drake TR7's. I could make hundreds more
parting them out than restoring them. Instead of doing
so I have swapped one to a retired technician in exchange
for him restoring the other. I could use the money but I
respect the special value of a well-designed classic rig
and the joy of operating it -- I'd have to sell it for
less money before I could bring myself to rip a restorable
TR7 apart. (I guess my perspective comes from being
mentored by older Hams over the years.)

BA gear is already becoming difficult to come by and more
and more expensive to acquire. If too many people take the
"rip 'em apart to make more money from the parts" approach
soon only the most wealthy collectors will be able to
afford the rare remaining complete rigs and accessories.

Please don't take this as an attack on you, it is not meant
as such. My presumption is that you have devices that are
impossible to repair for the aforementioned reasons -- just
felt the need to remind those whom might misread and mis-
apply your observation.

BTW: Just fired up my SB-101 for the first time and
made a QSO with Mo, T99A, in Bosnia. Something special
about glowing tubes and DX! ;-)

IMHO, YMMV ... 73, doc kd4e.
