What you are looking for is the old Amphenol
microphone audio connector.

If you can't find the proper connector (although they
are available from a number of sources) take PL-259
UHF male connectors and cut off the center pin about
half way.  Use a reducer that is normally used with
RG58/U to cut down the size of the hole.  Solder in
your test wire.

The PL-259 thus modified will fit the connector
without any problems.  You can do the same thing to
get a microphone connected to all sorts of boat anchor
transmitters that use the same connector for the
microphone connection.
