[Heathkit] TX-1 Apache

Hi All

I'm new to the list, so pardon if I'm rehashing the obvious. I have two =
TX-1's one nice inside and trashed outside. The other is the opposite. =
Between the two I should have a nice radio when finished.

Here's a couple of questions.
1.) Is there a compendium of mods or fixes for built in problems (if =
there are any) ? Maybe Chuck Penson's? The tx that is in poor condition =
inside has a mod where someone ran a bare copper wire grounding buss (22 =
ga. or so) throughout the chassis, which is a questionable thing to do as =
far as I'm concerned ground loops and all you know. So I know there are =
some flaky mods out there. Are there any valid ones, audio, etc. or is the =
radio fine like it is?

2.) One of the radios has the phantom hole in the front panel which means =
someone at the factory silk screened a Mohawk front panel with Apache =
nomenclature. Would using that panel on the finished radio enhance or =
detract from the rig's collector value. I should point out that I'm =
planning to use the radio on the air and not sell in the immediate future, =
but down the line, who knows, it might even become part of my estate.=20

Many thanks!
