Murray,

According to the following web-link, your NTE cross is correct. My trusty
old ECG cross-reference book shows that it also crosses to an ECG173BP, but
has a note stating that the part is obsolete and no longer stocked. Specs
for the 173BP are:

Silicon, PRV = 5000, IO Max = 600 mA, Forward Current = 8 A, Recovery Time =
4 uS,

I've been working as a radar/radio tech for over 22 years and have never
come across a diode like the one shown in the picture, so I don't know how
much luck you'll have finding replacements. I imagine you could always find
a diode with similar electrical characteristics to replace them with...
depending on how much of a Heathkit purist you are!

This is a great group... hopefully someone else with have more to offer!

73,

Mike

Subject: [Heathkit] Help with Heathkit IO-4510 'O' scope

Recently purchased subject scope. The 3000 volt section is not working.
There are three diodes that form a voltage Tripler, I guess. All three
diodes test open. The Heath part number is 57-56. When I check this number
on NTE cross, I am not sure that it is the same diode. Also, in the parts
list under description the diode is called SCM30. This number on NTE is
nothing like the 57-56. I have the Heath MPL but, this 57-56 is not listed.
Can anyone help with this.
Murray
PS. Also may need 3, .015 3KV capacitors.
