Having the SA-2060A is great but always a pain when keeping it in line
all the time. When trying to do general coverage listening or casual ham
band listening, I was always screwing around adjusting the rotary
inductor and/or capacitors to bring up the sensitivity on the receiver.
Since I had several antennas to deal with, Inverted vees for 160, 80 and
40 meters and a tri-band beam for 10/15/20, I ran all the cables to a 5
position coax switch and ran one cable to the SA-2060A. I then took a
right angle PL259 to SO239 connector, double male PL259, and a T
connector (male PL259 center with two SO-239's) and did the following:
Initially lightly screwed the right angle connector into coax 1 position,
the center T connector lightly screwed into bypass and then lightly
screwed the double male connector into each SO-239 of each connector.
Then I tightened all the connectors. The one coax from the coax switch
then was connected to the remaining open SO239 on the T connector. Having
bypass and coax 1 connected this way does not impact the integrity of the
tuner. It's neat and requires no modification to the tuner.
