Heath made a very nice 6M transceiver the SB-110?
6M is the "magic band". Not quite VHF and not quite HF. Right now you
will spend hours listening to noise, when it opens it is possible to work
across the states and into Europe. For regular operation you will need a
large beam. When the band opens a "wet noodle" will be just fine. Get
familiar with the "grid square" system, be patient and you will have a lot
of fun.
