[Heathkit] Radio Identification Help Needed, Please

I will check with a buddy from the early sixties when we were in high
school.

This sounds like a radio he had.  He had an S-38E look-alike that had an
extra knob or maybe two but otherwise looked the same and had a cheap
wood case, unlike the metal cased S-38E.  I do remember that it was
available as either a kit or factory constructed.  He got a factory
built one.

It may have been made by Philmore as a successor to their CR-5AC.  I am
not real sure of the Philmore model number above either.
