Scott:

The HW-100 is a fine rig. Its a classic. While it is no longer my
primary station, I keep my HW-100 fully operational and I do use it.
Having said that, don't expect it to perform like a modern radio. It is
quite stable, after it warms up. It has plenty of sensitivity, and no
phase noise or synthesizer noise, like current rigs. SSB sounds as good
as anything on the air. The semi-break-in keying is slow by today's
standards is slow, though there are ways around this. Selectivity is
fine, except in heavy QRM.

Of course, it will only be as good as the care taken to build and align
it. However, I have used HW-100/101's, SB-101's and Collins KWM-2A's and
I like the Heathkits better! Chuck Penson's book says that many are
still on the air.

And, where else can you get a radio that is green (except for the o.d.
military gear, which is not attractive).
