My restoral has gone quite well except for the inability to calibrate the freq
within range of the trimmer cap (trimmer at MIN capacitance still leaves freq
low). I tried padding the trimmer with several series caps but with little
effect, so I put a 800 pf in series with the 200 pf feeding the grid of the
6AF4 oscillator to reduce it to 160 pf. That seems to have given me sufficient
adjustment range with the trimmer.

Now I have discovered another problem regarding the fine attenuator. When I
move it through it's range, as the voltage changes so does the frequency.
Don't know if this is a problem with my using the MFJ-259 Antenna Analyzer
input to read the frequency or if it is actually a trouble. I have to use X
10K plus at least mid range on the atten pot. Actually, I can't even get
enough drive on the lowest band to read anything on the counter.

I have considered using a buffer amp but maybe I am wasting my time using the
259 to begin with. The specs for the 259 say nothing about minimum drive but
mentions a max of 5V RF. Sure with I had a decent counter to use but that's
all I got.
