[Heathkit] Squelch

The CB-1 and the "Tener" are basically the same.
However, the receiver tuning range on the "Tener" is a
fair amount more than the CB-1. Of course the
silk-screening on the front panel is different.

In fact, the original HW-29 (not the HW-29A) "Sixer"
was the same as the CB-1 except for the number of
turns on the coils and a couple of capacitors.

I had a CB-1 back in 1960 that I acquired from another
amateur who had moved it to 29.6 MHz (the old AM
mobile frequency - now the FM calling frequency).
Eventually I drove the 35 miles up to the Heath plant
in St. Joseph, Michigan (Heath's mailing address was
Benton Harbor but the plant was on the south side of
St. Joseph) and bought the coils that were used in the
"Sixer". I then converted my CB-1 to 6 meters and
added the circuitry to use 8 MHz crystals instead of
overtone crystals (made it basically into an HW-29A).

The CB-1 units aren't that common (but they can be
found with only a minimum of trouble), but the "Tener"
units are pretty scarce these days since there just
weren't that many sold.
