Glen,
Thank you for shedding some factual substance on the issue. The level and extent
of thievery has increased markedly with the avenues of piracy provided to one
and all by the Internet. You as an author, and I, know all too well how that
works.
God speed your recovery OM -

As a matter of note: The Bono Act which extends the
existing copyright on all material from 75 years (per
the Berne Convention) to 95 years was upheld by the
Supreme Court of the United States this past week.
All items are now copyrighted for 95 years from their
date of creation (you do NOT have to register anything
for the material to be automatically copyrighted even
if never published!).
Material does not pass into public domain until
January 1st of the year following the 95th year of
creation. Thus, anything created before 1907 is now
in the public domain but, for all practical purposes,
anything created after 1907 is still under copyright.
This applies to things published on the Internet as
well as by other means including print, mechanical,
and electronic.
