Absolutely, many times. The original owner installed the switches
backwards in the clock so that the "Activate" position is closed rather
than open. This is a very common mistake.
Do not try to re-use the DIP switches. You will end up damaging the PC
board. Switches are much easier to find. Use diagonal cutters to break up
the DIP switches and remove each pin from the board seperately. After each
pin is removed, clean out the holes with a "solder-sucker". You can now
install the new DIP switch in place of the older one.
