[Heathkit] HO-10

Didn't seen anything relative to this in the archives so thought I'd try here.

Just got a very nice looking HO-10 scope. Seems to do what it is supposed to
do. And one thing additional -- like, when it is turned on, as it warms up
(five or six seconds) it starts to generate hash in any receiver around.
Appears to be about a half S-unit. As the beam is moved down, using the Vert
Pos control, the hash decreases. Moving the beam to the top of the CRT the
hash gets stronger. No other control affects the noise, including the
intensity or focus controls. Out of curiosity I switched it to different AC
receptacles, with no change. Could apply an external ground, and I may do so.
Seems like the hash may be radiating into the ant pickup. I have not looked
at the inside of this scope yet, but realize this could be routing, or
overlong leads?

Anyone else found this condition in an HO-10? If so, did you resolve it, or
not, and if you did, how? I notice there is a very, very low ripple on the
trace as well, which suggests some filtering problems, but that, too, may be
normal, as these are not exactly high-line scopes!

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Ed
