I would doubt that the connections are the cause of the load
resistance being off. These loads are old and made of cheap
carbon resistors that drift with age. Most likely you will
have to replace the resistors to get the resistance right.

The question I ask is do you actually _need_ the resistance
to be exactly 50 ohms? Even the 76 ohm loads you have will
still provide an SWR of only 1.5:1 which is fine for testing,
tune up etc. My vote is to leave well enough alone. Especially
if you don't know what type of oil is in the can!
