It is now, and always has been, my policy as NCS for the HCI Nets to make
welcome all current owners, former owners, actual users, interested parties and
everyone else who is interested in vintage radio equipment. I do not, nor did
the NCS before me in March of 1999, exclude anyone using a rig other than
Hallicrafters.

Almost all vintage gear owners, and users, have multiple stations that are not
limited to a single brand of equipment. I want all vintage equipment owners to
feel welcome and appreciated on the HCI Nets. This is why I post the HCI Net
announcements on selected lists in addition to the Hallicrafters list. This
hobby is all about sharing and that philosophy transcends many boundries.
Vintage gear is still vintage, regardless of the manufacturer's name.

Yes there is a Heathkit Net. However, some people can not check into it because
of the time difference between where they resside and Don's QTH in CA. Other
times band conditions simply won't permit propagation to CA. Hence, if anyone
with a Heathkit wishes to check into the HCI Nets, we welcome them.

Some of you, and that is a very tiny number, do occasionally object to the HCI
Net posts appearing here. The standard gripe: "What's this got to do with
Heathkit anyhow?" Perhaps more so than you may have thought.

I shall continue to post the HCI Net announcements here. For those it offends,
use your delete key and ignore them. For the rest of you, please join with us
anytime with that Hot Water 101 or whatever. Speaking of the HW-101, does anyone
know how the handle "Hot Water" came to be representative of the letters "HW"?
Is there an untold tale to tell here?

Thanks and God bless our America on this fateful, but nonetheless, historic day.
