>>I have for sale a prototype of a high power voltage reducer. It will
>>drop your line voltage from today's 122 VAC to yesteryear's 115 VAC,
When did the standard for line voltage in the United States of America
(almost universally followed) of 117 volts RMS at 60 Hz get changed?
I have never measured more than 119 in my life, using several
`Fluke true RMS' meters in 7 diverse cities in Florida.
(I know a couple of cities in the Buffalo, NY area (along the
Canadian border) used 50 cycles for some mostly park {lighting} areas,
which had a few homes operating from these special circuits)
(home appliances, washers and dryers need to be rated for 50 Hz to
perform up to specifications)
I always assumed these were fed by some turn of the century
water turbine equipment.
