[Heathkit] Re SB310 Receiver

Howdy, I have my SB310 up and running now. Things that i had to replace was
the 6 volt supply line to the 85-153-4 board, The whole wire was melted from
the stand off by the can cap right up to the front meter bulb. I replace the
wire and check the area for a short. I could not find one anywhere. I even
check the light bulb sockett too. The other thing i had to replace was the 3
watt 330 ohm resistor on the Big can capacitor. I check all of the big
resistors in this area with the touch of my finger for heat and that 3 watt
330 ohm resistor sure is hot to the point that i do not want to hold my
finger there very long. Is this normal? Other then that it seems to run
find. Also is there anybody out there scraping one of these receivers? I
would like to replace the front plastic piece with the SB 310  Heathkit on
it and I also would like to find a good set of stock knobs for this
receiver. The main tuning knob is a must because one of the set screws is
strip. Any help would surly be appreciated. I`am also still in need of a
