[Heathkit] HW-16/VF-1 combo experiences...and paint info needed.

I used my HW-16/VF-1 combo last night to operate Field Day for a 
few hours as a Class 1E (home station w/emergency power).

What fun! Was easily making 1 contact/minute for most of that 
time.

My output signal on 40 sounds very nice in my SB-300. No chirp 
and now, thanks to the collective wisdom of the group, NO DRIFT 
whatsoever.

To recap: my "annoying problem" was caused by a bad 4.5-25pfd 
ceramic trimmer. I had two more of those and one of THOSE was 
also bad.

I bought some from Ocean State Electronics which are perfect for 
the job and will use those to restore the other two VF-1s I have 
here.

Lastly, does anyone know where to get the Heathkit grey crackle 
paint which the VF-1 cases were originally painted with? I have one 
here which was repainted with gloss black enamel and looks awful.
