  This isn't a trick, if the HW-16 has a tube output amplifier,

as most output amplifiers that use tubes are, look up the output 
tube in a (or several) `tube essential characteristics' books, 
look at the output impedance, in the last or second to the last 
column as a rule, 2k, 4k, 6k, that is the best impedance to use.
