Thanks for the info. Actually, it occured to me last night, that I forgot to
mention in my first post that I am trying to align the 401 as a stand alone
transmitter. My thinking being that if I got all the bugs out, it would be easy
to align with an SB-303.
The 401 has previously had the 21mhz trap and associated components
removed/replaced for use with a 303. If the LMO spur is somehow getting thru to
the mixer and hence the output, it might be the cause of the problem. A key to
this might be that the 21mhz het/driver/plate coils showed somewhat different
tuning characteristics during the transmitter alignment. Although a frequency
counter at the output showed the correct frequency, without a spectrum analyzer,
there could be other frequencies at the output, as well. I will try to align
the 401 with the reciever today and see what happens.
