From wb1dby at gmail.com Fri Sep 1 16:40:43 2023 From: wb1dby at gmail.com (Larry Krainson) Date: Fri, 1 Sep 2023 16:40:43 -0400 Subject: [HCRA] Your Help Is Needed Message-ID: Your Help is Needed to help staff the ham radio booth at the Big E. We have just one week to get all the volunteer slots filled. As of right now, only the following HCRA members have volunteered: 1. K8LSB 2. W1BOB 3. W1AST 4. AA1SE 5. N1CB 6. AC1MN That's just 6 out of over 100 members. Why volunteer? The Big E ham radio booth provides the opportunity for you to talk to the public about ham radio and get them interested in our hobby. There will be a signup form for those who are interested in learning more and possibly taking classes. The HCRA has a Technician Class planned to start in January. We need your help getting people to sign up to attend. We need your help in staffing the booth. Since we are local to the Big E, it's a natural time to take an afternoon session that runs from 3:30 pm to 10 pm. You will get both your admission and parking reimbursed after the Big E has ended. Are you one to stand by and let others volunteer and do the work? Volunteer and help grow ham radio in Western MA, in New England and potentially the HCRA. Your club needs you. The following chart lists days, number of people and the times (with a Y) where volunteers are needed. # Date # Needed 9:30 am - 4:00 PM 3:30 PM - 10:00 PM 1 9/15/2023 1 Y 2 9/16/2023 3 Y 3 9/18/2023 1 Y 4 9/20/2023 3 Y 5 9/21/2023 2 Y 6 9/22/2023 3 Y 7 9/24/2023 3 Y 8 9/26/2023 3 Y 9 9/27/2023 3 Y 10 9/28/2023 1 Y 11 9/29/2023 3 Y 12 9/30/2023 3 Y 13 10/1/2023 3 Y You can sign up here: bit.ly/45Cv6mn Or contact Larry, W1AST direct at: WAST at arrl.net From kd1ku at yahoo.com Mon Sep 4 19:53:12 2023 From: kd1ku at yahoo.com (Ken, KD1KU) Date: Mon, 4 Sep 2023 19:53:12 -0400 Subject: [HCRA] Here is your September Zero Beat! We are looking for a bit more help for the booth at the Big E this year. What can being a volunteer do? We show the public that ham radio is still relevant. We get them interested in ham radio and sign them up for classes. Once they get their license, direct them to local clubs which will mentor them and help get them on the air and help to grow New England clubs. All clubs need new members to grow and stay active. Can you help with this? Here are the times and dates where help is still needed: One or two people for Monday, Sept 18 for the 9:30 - 4 pm session 1. One person for the Sept 22nd 330 - 10 pm session 2. Two or more people for the Sunday, Sept 24th 330 to 10 pm session (this will be a very busy one) 3. Three people for Tuesday, Sept 26th 330 - 10 pm 4. 3 people for Thursday, Sept 28th 330-10 pm 5. 3 people for Friday, Sept 29th, 330 to 10 pm As you can see, any of the above would be perfect for a local club or group of hams to be available. Contact Larry, W1AST direct at W1AST at arrl.net for more info and to sign up. Even if you can only do a partial session, you can help out. Also, clubs can bring banners, flyers and more. We need your help. Please volunteer.
