Hello All,

The Western Mass VE Team (WMVET, Backed by ARRL VEC and the HCRA) is back
to its regular schedule. They will be hosting Amateur Radio license
examinations every 4th Friday of the month (at 6pm) at the Holyoke Hospital
Auxiliary Conference Center. The same place where HCRA hosts its meetings.

There will be an examination tonight (1/27/23). It starts at 6pm. Please
note the FCC has implemented a $35 application fee for the initial license
(tech). This fee must be paid to the FCC for passing candidates after the
exam. The VE team hosting the exam can not accept FCC application fees. For
ARRL VEC backed exams, the exam fee is $15.

Candidate must also obtain a FRN (FCC Registration Number) prior to the
exam if they do not have one already. If you already have an FCC amateur
radio license and/or a GMRS License, you already have a FRN.

If the Candidate is under 18, the ARRL will cover the FCC application fee
as well as $10 (of the $15) exam fee.

*Not to be confused with the above!!!!*

The Pioneer Valley VE Team (PVVET, Backed by Laurel VEC) will be hosting a
FCC amateur radio license exam at the MTARA hamfest on Saturday, March 4th
at approximately 10:30pm (or possibly sooner).

The PVVET does not charge exam fees. However, FCC application fees still
apply to the initial license. Upgrades with PVVET are completely free. VE
teams can not accept FCC application fees. Passing candidates will be given
instructions at the exam.

All PVVET exams (once again, not to be confused with the above) require its
candidates to pre-register. PVVET does not accept walk-ins.
