The following is hosted by our friends to the north, The Franklin County 
Amateur Radio Club.
If anybody from the HCRA is interested the FCARC is hosting the 
following Coffee and Radios event, details are below.
Not just in attending, but helping some new hams play FM simplex over 
vast distances. Instead of just using repeaters.
Shelburne Falls is less than 45 minutes from the greater Springfield area.

 ??? Apex Orchards affords spectacular views from the West side of the 
Connecticut River. Outstanding peaches!?? West County Cider is just

 ??? At 930 feet above sea level, it's an excellent VHF / UHF location.? 
HF equipment is welcome, but note the opportunity to hang wire antennas 
is limited.The club (AC1L) will be operating GOTA stations on VHF, UHF

Donuts and coffee provided.? Bring a chair and a small folding table if 
you have one.
Experiment with antennas.? Program new repeaters into your transceiver.

ARLS009 SSTV Transmissions Scheduled from ISS

Friday and Saturday, August 6 - 7, Russian cosmonauts onboard the 
International Space Station (ISS) will transmit slow-scan television 
(SSTV) images from the space station on 145.800 MHz FM. They will use 
SSTV mode PD-120. The transmissions are part of the Moscow Aviation 
Institute SSTV experiment (MAI-75) and will be sent via RS0ISS, the ham 
station in the Russian Zvezda (Service) module using a Kenwood TM-D710 
transceiver.

The announced schedule is August 6, 1050 - 1910 UTC and August 7, 0950 - 
1555 UTC. Dates and times are subject to change. For stations in the ISS 
footprint, the RS0ISS signal should be easy to copy on a handheld 
transceiver and a quarter-wave whip. Use 25-kHz channel spacing, if 
available. Free ISS software is available to download.

I hope everybody has been enjoying their summer between all the rain and 
humidity!

The September issue of Zero Beat is in the works so if anybody has an 
article or anything else they'd like to see in the upcoming issue or 
maybe something wanted or for sale in the For Sale section please get it 
to me no later than August 20th.

Note: I'm extending the cutoff date for this month, beginning with 
October the cutoff date will be the 15th of the month prior to the 
upcoming issue.

Franklin County Amateur Radio Club (FCARC) is seeking volunteers to 
provide course communications for the upcoming 2021 New England Green 
River Marathon being held Sunday, Aug 29th.

The race begins at 7 a.m. from Marlboro College, VT to Greenfield 
Community College, MA following the picturesque Green River. The course 
should be clear by 1:30 p.m. There is no cell coverage for most of this 
route presenting a real need for amateur radio. Please check out this
