I’d be happy to chat with him Larry, possibly from the perspective of a new ham. I certainly won’t have the depth of knowledge that folks like you do, but could help him navigate some of the early issues, like taking the exams and building out his shack. Also, HDSDR is a software package that’s a front end to the small SDR’s like SDR play and the dongles. I have a dongle I’ve been trying to turn into a panadapter but for $50 and a download of HDSDR for free, you’re on the air and listening to anything from 1mhz to 3Ghz. To me, for any potential new ham, this is a great way to go. I could also share with him the study method I used to pass the exams. I got 4 wrong across all three exams so it worked for me.

Hello All,

A friend that is tinkering with HDSDR with either weather balloons of high
altitude balloons is looking for some help.

He was saying he is gaining interest in possibly getting his license too.

I'm looking for someone to talk and possibly zoom or remote control so he
can learn about the SDR.

My friend is a retired doctor and very smart and methodical. He will pick
up the info quite quickly and is very possibly a future ham.

If you would like to talk to him, please email me directly and I will give
you his info and him your info.

Thanks very much,

Larry, W1AST
