From nt1k at nt1k.com Mon Jul 17 13:27:50 2017 From: nt1k at nt1k.com (Jeffrey Bail - NT1K) Date: Mon, 17 Jul 2017 13:27:50 -0400 Subject: [HCRA] Field Day 2017 - Claimed Score / Stats Message-ID: Hello, First off I would like to say thank you to all who helped by volunteering with setup and teardown. I would also like to thank those who came out and visited, operated, and to those who donated food, money for food and items to be donated to the Springfield Rescue Mission. Without volunteers, none of this would have been possible. Of course, we could always use more for the future. Please considered volunteering for future HCRA events. For HCRA, field day is really about having fun and showing the general public just some of what amateur radio has to offer. A lot of visitors are very impressed with our setup and what we could do. It seemed everyone involved had a great time with great company, eating great food. It's not about making contacts or points. It's about having a good time and it appeared that everyone involved had a great time. Considered very successful. One of the aspects of FD is to make contacts and points. Even though the ARRL doesn't consider FD to be a contest and they don't give out awards, they assign points for contacts and bonus points for completing certain tasks. They then publish the results in QST and online for all to see. It's an excellent way to motivate operators to make contacts with each other. Some do like the competitions between other field days and even with other operators at the same site! HCRA has posted claimed scores and summary on the Field Day 2017 web page http://www.hcra.org/field-day-2017/ We made 4011 contacts giving us 10,958 points (with power multiplier). Along with the 1710 Bonus points, we have a total claimed score of 12,668 points. That is 3076 more points than compared to 2016. This is due to having 450 more CW contacts, 861 more SSB contacts and having a dedicated station to 20m SSB and a dedicated station for 15/75m SSB. Excellent job by the operators! For detailed stats, please checkout out stats page for 2017 http://hcra.org/fdstats/2017-ARRL-FD-W1NY/ Thanks again! ------ Please enjoy your summer! Get on the air and have some fun! HCRA will be back at it in September. Please stay tuned to the HCRA website, facebook page and e-mail for more detailed information about upcoming meetings and other HCRA events! - Jeffrey Bail (NT1K) Field Day 2017 Co-Chair
