HCRA will be holding its first meeting of the season tomorrow (9/9/16) at the Holyoke Medical Center auxiliary conference center. Meeting starts at approximately 7:30 The following information can be found in our latest edition of Zero Beat. Our program director Larry (W1AST) has arranged for an excellent speaker. Tony Brock-Fisher (K1KP) will be discussing Solar alongside amateur radio. Many members are on the fence about getting a solar installation due to RFI and other concerns when it comes to amateur radio. This is a must attend meeting. Jim Mullen (KK1W) has volunteered to head up the HCRA Swap and Sell table. Based off the postings on our facebook group, it appears that we will have a lot of items for sale by members. Lots of electronics and lots of aluminum. Come down and check it out! If you have any items to sell, bring it along! HCRA suggests a 10% donation. Harold (N1FTP) will be selling raffle tickets for the Elecraft KX2. Just released in May, it's a multi-mode HF rig covering 80m-10m. It's has 10w and small size that makes portable operating much easier. Come down to the meeting to see it and purchase tickets. They are $10 ea and we've only printed 250. HCRA Contest U is just around the corner. Part of HCRA's "Share The Knowledge" series, Matt Willhelm (W1MSW) and myself will be going over the basics of contesting along with optimizing your station and score. We will also cover the basics of the popular contesting software N1MM Logger +. All HCRA members are welcome. It will be on Saturday, September 17th at the Holyoke medical center. Class starts at 9am. It's that time of the year. Renewal time! John (K1VOI) will be accepting renewal applications at the meeting. It's very important that you renew your membership. Proceeds from your dues help keep this club running.
