Tickets are available at HCRA events or through Harold (N1FTP at yahoo.com). ----- Share The Knowledge That's right, HCRA is hosting another class in our "Share The Knowledge" series. This class will be about the Arduino, the popular micro controlling unit (MCU) that could have many uses in your shack. It can be easy as a CW keyer to remote station management. Juergen (NV1Q), will be going over the operation of the Arduino with some simple to program projects. HCRA purchased multiple kits that could be purchased at meetings for just $10. We have limited quantities left and will be sold on first come, first served basis. The class will be held at the Holyoke Medical Center's Aux Conference room (same place as the meeting) on Saturday, October 22nd 2016 at 9am. All HCRA members are welcome to attend. ----- Holiday Party Even though the holiday season is months away, the joint MTARA/HCRA holiday will soon approach us. This year MTARA stepped up to plan the Holiday Party and they have chosen to host the party at the Castle Of Knight's in Chicopee MA on Sunday, December 4th, 2016 (1-5pm). It should be an excellent event for all. Look forward to November's Zero beat for details and ticket information. ------ Hope to see you at the meeting, Jeffrey Bail (NT1K) HCRA President From kk1w.jim at gmail.com Fri Oct 7 11:15:16 2016 From: kk1w.jim at gmail.com (Jim Mullen) Date: Fri, 7 Oct 2016 11:15:16 -0400 Subject: [HCRA] Swap & Sell at tonight's meeting. October 7th. Message-ID: Swap & Sell will be in full force again at tonight's meeting. Have something to sell, something to donate, something to buy? We are looking for you. I'll be bringing a working Ham-M rotor w/control box plus a 2nd rotor for spare parts. It will be reasonably priced! Have something to donate, bring it down, we'd love to have it. Selling for yourself? A 10% donation to HCRA, or a reasonable amount on larger sales is appreciated. See you tonight! The topic will be on the popular micro controller "Arduino", your presenter will be Juergen Malner (NV1Q). The Arduino is a computer programmable, open-source, micro controller unit (MCU). It gained popularity with the DIY/Maker crowed due to it's ease of programming and use. There have been many uses for the arduino that include quad-copters, robotics, home automation, and more. There is no limit with what you can do. There are many amateur radio applications that use the arduino. Hams use them for station management, code/data keyers, TNC's, Rotor control and more. The Ten-Tec rebel used an Arduino as a way to encourage operators to tinker with the radio. HCRA purchased dozens of Arduino type kits and have been selling them at meetings. Hopefully you are getting use with them. If not, don't worry. Juergen will be covering the basics. When: Saturday October 22nd, 2016 - 9am Where: Holyoke Medical Center Aux Conf Room (Same place as our meetings) Even though it's not required. It's suggested for you to bring your kit and a laptop (with charged battery of course). HCRA will provide coffee and donuts to attendees Thank you! - Jeffrey Bail (NT1K)
