====================================================================

Speaker topic: Field Day 2013 (More to follow.)
When: Friday, June 14th
Time: 7:30 PM (Doors open at 7 PM)
Location: Pioneer Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross,
506 Cottage Street, Springfield, MA

=============================================================
notice: this is a drill left pver from the april issue of qst
the original article never published was that the FCC was now
going to require logs again, and they would be in METRIC TIME
where the basic unit was a day, with milli-day, micro-day etc.
=============================================================
*BULLETIN* *BULL*etin* *bull*tin* === this is a BULLETIN
You know what a Bull*etin is, don't you?
Yah, something that is on the bulletin board.
Got some advice for you, *READ IT*
If it would have been an *ADVISORY,*
you would have been *advised* to
go read the *BULLETIN*
on the *Bulletin_Board*
Then, what would you do if it was a *WARNING?*
be fore-warned to *BE_WARNED* but for what(?)
weren't you a Boy Scout(?)
it's warned to *BE_PREPARED* dummy(!)
However (God forbid) should be an *ALERT* then what(?)
If you were a CB'er from the old days,
you would join *ALERT* to assist the
vigilantes who were already *R.E.A.C.T.ing*
If you were a typical ham that used to meet
at the Captain Leonard House on Route 159
and sit there and smoke a pipe and watch the program
and never showed at Middlefield Fair Grounds for field day
you would *NOT_BE_BEING_PREPARED* for ham radio to assist in
*COMMUNICATIONS-FOR-THE-END-OF-THE-WORLD*
If you were not prepared, and sitting there dumbfounded, do this:
a. reach up high to the sky and say a prayer that others are prepared
b. If you have not been working out, and can't reach up high
c. bend forward as much as you can
d. put your head between your knees
e. and kiss your ass goodbye
=========================================================================
so put on your Elmer Hat, (I had two, Cappy W1MBT and Elmer W1ESG)
go out and find the two smartest Boy Scouts or Venturers over 14,
(Venturers are senior scouts, formerly called Explorers, now co-ed)
*and-bring-them-to-the-meeting-tonight* Wearing their OA sashes bonus.
News media should be called. especially the TV Crews from 40 and 22.
We are gonna start something, and get a lot more younger hams on air.
PLEASE NOTE: HCRA already has a VENTURE CREW, and they are not alone.
Another VENTURE CREW is at the Vintage Radio Museum in Windsor, CT.
But the both crews are young, and may be going away to college (?)
So we need new blood. Recently one HS freshman from Southington
came to the Radio Museum looking for vacuum tubes, he got an old
16mm projector working and got some films, and wanted to hear sound.
WE NEED NEW EXPERIMENTERS, NOT APPLIANCE OPERATORS.
For years the Boy Scouts had Morse Code (or Sempaphore Flags) as a
requirement for first class, but some time ago dropped it entirely.
Now it is back as an option, a *STAND-OUT-OPTION* goes right on the
front of the uniform above the pocket, says MORSE using dots & dashes.
Any scout coming to meetings or field day can verify this for them.
There is a morse code chart online available at the meeting
meanwhile you can read the news website I wrote for my old Scout
District, the Algonquin District, east of the Conn. River in CT.

THERE WILL BE MORE... HOW HAM RADIO AND THE BOY SCOUTS CAN WORK TOGETHER
AND GET READY FOR THE END OF THE WORLD.
My name is dishonest abe, and that's no lie.
