Hey Folks,
So by now you've all read the December edition of Zerobeat <
http://hcra.org/zerobeat/dec11.pdf> (Thanks Frandy!) and you've seen
Jim-KK1W's challenge. As if better propagation wasn't already enough to
encourage everyone to participate, now there are prizes? Holy smokes!
I can't stress enough how much fun this contest is. Two years ago, I went
to KK1W's shack in Brimfield to check out the contest. I had never touched
an HF radio and within (I'm not kidding) a minute, Jim had me sitting at
radio calling CQ. Although conditions were pitiful and the only DX we got
was Texas, my operating skills improved tenfold that day. I can't encourage
everyone enough to get on the air for this contest, especially if you're a
beginner. Last year things improved with openings to South America. This
year we'll be talking all over the world.
So Jim has offered up his shack (where I too will be) to those looking for
a place to operate. His station is in Brimfield, MA
Tuc - N1QFT has also generously invited folks to try their hand at
operating at his station in South Hadley.
Are there any other club members out there who will be participating and
would be interested in having other members operate in a multi-single at
their QTH?
Are there any folks out there who would like to participate, but don't have
the equipment at home and would like to operate at another member's QTH?
Please feel free to post here or contact me directly so we can coordinate
something and let's make sure everyone who wants to play in the contest has
a chance to.
Looking forward to hearing everyone on the air!73,
Matt - W1MSW
