[HCRA] Preliminary Field Day Scores posted

Yahoo! Just a few short days after FD and we have our preliminary scores up
on the web. See the fantastic score as well as all the participants - it's
pretty impressive!

Like most of you I'm still recovering from the weekend of fun in the sun.
Isn't it funny how two days of hard work can be called fun? But it was,
wasn't it? I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to personally thank everyone for
your interest, amateur radio skills and camaraderie over the weekend but
rest assured everyone's contribution, no matter how small it may have seemed
to you, is what made FD 2011 a resounding success. Isn't this a great hobby?

The scores posted above are indeed preliminary but I wouldn't expect a lot
of change. We're still collating the 'other stuff' required for the bonus
points and doing some final log checking but we feel we're pretty close to
the mark. It would appear this year's score of 12,078 is a new high for HCRA
and 20% greater than last years outstanding effort. This was in part made
possible by the cooperation between HCRA and MTARA. From KB1XG's killer 6
meter station to a host of new operators and helpers I'll bet we added 30%
more people than we had on site last year. To quote a local amusement park,
more PEOPLE = more FUN!

It is my hope we can continue to build on our success and assemble an even
bigger group of folks who want to have fun in 2012. Planning is already
underway and we're looking for input in the process. What you can do for us
is comment to the mailing list and/or our facebook page. We're especially
interested in what parts of FD 2011 were the most fun for you AND what you
would like to see done in 2012 that would make it even better. Let's build
on our success, learn from our stumbles and get back out there bigger and
better next year - right?

moment to check the participant list. If you see any omissions or
corrections please contact either Matt or myself so we can ensure everyone
gets credit for their efforts. We will be adding a few pictures to the web
page but I urge you to take a look at the photo albums already uploaded to
facebook by Frandy/N1FJ, Jeff/N1BMX, Dan/KB1VWQ and Rich/N1KXR. I think
you'll find them interesting, especially if you couldn't make it this year.
