Summits on the Air was the subject of Friday's meeting. Dave/WN1E took it to
heart and did his first activation today at Quabbin Hill. Here's a link to
some pictures of his operation.

With an FT-817 at 5 watts, a small tuner, and end fed 43' wire antenna hung
from the tower Dave & I managed 16 contacts on 20 meters in just an hour and
a half. The pictures tell the story. Great location, beautiful views, easy
to setup and take down - think of it as a mini Field Day!
Anyone can do this. The hike up 100' from the parking lot is quite simple
and just about any rig/antenna combination can work for you as long as you
have battery power. Don't let this summer pass without giving it a try.
Interested, give anyone of the SOTA Jerks a call or stop by the website or
facebook page for more information. Need help, have questions? We're here to
answer them for you. Most of all get out and have fun!
