[HCRA] Help programming TYT Handitalkie

Hi all, 
I'm new to the list and would like to get back on VHF. I bought a TYT-UVF1 2mtr/440 HT but am stymied by the programming process. Neither the terrible instructions nor the "cheat-sheet" seem to help with certain problems. Is there anyone familiar with the HT who could guide me through the programming process? I live in Amherst but can get around. Hope to be on VHF soon.
