Dear fellow hams,

I just got a aweful phone call from Barbara Whitehouse the xyl of Jim,
K1JAW. She told me that Jim had a very bad heart attack, a bypass was
attempted but unsuccessful. Jim is now a Silent Key.

I do not know any details for the wake or funeral. But will post them when I
find out.

I first met Jim 8 yeara ago when my son Jake joined cub scouting. Jim was
the committee chair for the pack and he came over and introduced himself and
welcomed me to the pack. A very friendly person. After chatting with him at
subsequent meetings, I learned he was a ham and a deeper friendship evolved.

This friendship has carried on thru the years to today. Jim was always
willing to help with a project, elmer a new or existing ham or make
suggestions. Just this past year he was on the board of the HCRA and many of
his porjects came into being such as the Rockmite kits and more. We all
benefitted from his ideas. So much so, that my son Jake watched me build a
Rockmite and wanted to try kit building himself. So Jim came over and taught
him how to solder and identify parts and more.

Jim leaves his wife Barbara, 2 daughters and son Jimmy (also a ham).

Jim will be missed by us all.

73 old friend,

Larry, WB1DBY
