Hi folks,
We presently have over 100 members on the HCRA mailing list. I haven't
counted but I'll bet regular contributors number less than ten! Is there
something we can do to increase participation in this valuable resource?
The mailing list is perhaps the best vehicle going for all our members and
guests to keep abreast of HCRA activities, ask technical questions, get help
with special events, relay hints and tips, I think you get the idea. I'm
wondering if there's something we can to do make it better.
Missing from this mailing list is the ability to create polls and to send
attachments. If we moved the list over to a Yahoo Group we could do both of
those as well as everything we do now. We would lose the 'bare bones'
approach of qth.net and see some Yahoo advertising if we changed.
We presently have two Yahoo Groups, one for Field Day and another for the
Board of Directors. These lists have run for quite some time without
problems. Do you think it is time to move the general HCRA list to Yahoo as
well?
I would appreciate some input from the list users about this idea. Any
comments, positive or negative, are most welcome. The cost to HCRA is zero
and the effort to move the group to Yahoo is minimal and something I can
easily handle.
No matter what the decision I really feel a mailing list or group is very
important to the health and vitality of HCRA. Having the list is the easy
part, getting participation is the key to it all. The more we all post the
more everyone gets to share in your club.
Thanks for taking the time to read this message and I look forward to your
responses,
Jim, KK1W
