[HCRA] Is your project ready for Show & Tell on Friday?

Just wondering, that's all. I haven't heard much from the crowd here on the
list and want to make sure you don't miss out on a fun time this Friday.

 

Here's what's been going on at the KK1W Skunk works:

 

I finally finished a Softrock 40 meter SDR receiver kit I purchased almost
two, maybe three years OK. Hey, good things take time you know. My first
excuse was I needed a better soldering station, so I bought one of those
last year. Then I needed some type of magnification so my tired old eyes
could see those little parts. I picked one of those up the other day so the
excuses were over. I'll bring it along for demonstration Friday evening.

 

For those of you not sure what an SDR (Software Defined Radio) actually is I
think you will be both impressed and excited. I fill you in at the meeting,
don't want to ruin it now!

 

For all of you in the same boat as me, can't see those darn little part, I
found a great value on a headset magnifier at Harbor Freight. I was cruising
the internet looking at magnifiers and found a decent looking one for $41.50
at one site. The exact same one at HF is only $9.95! How can you go wrong?
It sure made placing those little SMD's and chip capacitors a lot easier,
I'll tell you that. And no, I don't work for HF and I'm not recommending -
just saying it was a good deal and worked well for me.

 

So finish up those projects and get both you and them down to the meeting
Friday evening. I promise you a fun time!
