Yup! Marty is right, and it is getting close. If you have been on the air recently, you have notice that the bands are improving. Yesterday six and ten were wide open! If it continues to improve, it could be a record breaker FD. Now we just need some great (not to hot, or wet) weather.
Some folks have listed items that are being brought to assist in the Food Court extravaganza. As a recap and to keep you from searching through the emails, Brownies, sheet cake, oreos, cookies and fruit. What can you bring to help make this the best ever FD.
On the home front, I have just finished my solar controller in a pill bottle. It's looking go so far and after two days, it hasn't gone up in smoke (yet)........ I will also be experimenting with new (fer me) rechargeable battery chemistry this year (NiZn). It promises to be a winner - - we'll see! Maybe just another $18 that went down the proverbial marketing 101 promise drain. If that is the result, I let you know to save you some of your $$.
Built a new stand fer my K1 radio made from a old cd case. If I have time I want to make a decal fer it. It looks good without a decal but having the most common codes fer the radio would be nice. Most important, it does the job at no cost!
Still have to create a new dipole should the beam not be available. This is going to be 44' fed with TV twin line to a home brew 4:1 balun. This one I don't know if it will work yet. I only have 50 feet of twin lead and the balun has not been tested. I know that some of us don't like baluns but I don't have time to build a BLT tuner so it is what it is.
Hope to see you there. And if you want to operate a K1 cw QRP radio, come on down and give me a hand. It will have a Vibroplex Code Warrior Iambic key attached. I'll be the logger fer u. (If you prefer a straight key, let me know in advance and I will wire a J-37 & bring it.) And if you prefer to operate another mode, I'm sure that someone will enjoy the break. 73

I'll be bringing a large can of coffee, A batch of cookies and some type of
cake or pie. I hope everyone who has committed their time to some portion of
FD 2010 activities is totally psyched for the big weekend. It is only a
little over a week away and time flies when you are anticipating fun. Those
of you who have been teetering on the fence, it's time to contact Matt W1MSW
or Jim KK1W with the good news that you have cleared your calendar and will
be participating in FD 2010.

Hey folks!
The Field Day food menu has just hit the web. Travel on over to
http://www.hcra.org/menu.htm and see what we're cooking up for you this
year!
The most notable feature of the FD 2010 menu is the cost. Because of your
strong support of HCRA and our activities throughout the year we are
returning the favor by offering dinner, breakfast and lunch on us for every
member and one guest. To be clear you don't have to be participating in
Field Day to have supper, breakfast or lunch (but no one will turn you down
if you want to help). Supper is Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and includes
burgers, dogs, potato salad, tuna salad, a drink and dessert.
It is said every good deed doesn't go unpunished so let me add that if you
would like to donate some delectable desserts to the table we won't turn you
away! Please drop a note out here on the mailing list if you're going to be
able to satisfy our need for sugar. This will help avoid duplication and
increase variety.
There's still a few Field Day raffle tickets left, see Matt during Field Day
and get your chance to win a Yaesu FT 1900R and an antenna.
I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone at FD this year. If we get
enough people we won't need sunspots or sunshine to put a smile on
everyone's face!
