Hi all,

I've sat back and watched/read the debate, now I'm compelled to add my own 3 cents.
- First: Despite what the naysayers keep harping, Yahoo! Groups are ~not~ evil. Many Hams in the club already belong, so a good portion of the target audience is waiting for you.

- Second: One does NOT have to join Yahoo! Groups to get e-mail from Yahoo! Groups. One must _join_ Yahoo! Groups to make use of all the features that Yahoo! Group offers, but, not to receive and/or send mail as part of that e-list. To add people to the list, all the HCRA Yahoo! Groups List-Owner would have to do, is have an e-mail address to send the join invitation to. Once the person receives it, they simply accept as a full member, or elect to only exchange e-mail with/to the list.

- Third: Many people, myself included, don't want to join a growing number of list-servers. The only reason I joined this list, was to get the information that wasn't being shared on the Yahoo! Groups list! HCRA already has a presence on Yahoo! Groups for it's Field Day planning: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/hcra-fd/ So, as I said before, it's not like HCRA members aren't already there!

- Fourth: Photos can be shared, and stored on the list.

- Fifth: If allowed, attachments can be sent (but not stored).

- Sixth: Links can be created to direct /assist members who are looking for information/sites.

- Lastly: Would it really hurt to have a Yahoo! Groups list? Would we not want to get the club's word out as fast and as far and as wide as we can? I myself run several Yahoo! Groups, and would be more than happy/willing to run a Yahoo! Groups list for the club to which I am a member. The list could mirror this list in terms of club announcements and updates. It would however differ as the threads would not be shared. Each conversation would head in it's own direction.

Well I'll get off my soapbox now, and state lastly; Yes to a Yahoo! Groups list.
