Hey gang,
Are you a Rookie looking for some contest fun this Sunday? Or perhaps a
'grizzled 'Ole Veteran' willing to offer assistance or a station to a
deserving 'young pup' (aka Rookie)???
If so then Sunday at 2:00 PM EDT is the time and place to do your thing.
What constitutes a rookie? Well it could be a lot of things but in this case
you need to have received your amateur license in 2008 or later. Here's the
Rookie Roundup Blog that will fill you in on all the gory details:
http://rookieroundup.wordpress.com/
It seems there has been some change in the interpretation of the rules. If
one of us GOV's (Grizzled Ole Veterans) opens up their station any number of
operators can use it as a long as they operate as single operators.
Depending on the license class of the Rookie you may need to be aware of
Third Party Traffic rules when working DX.
This should be a fun and interesting contest. I know at least four HCRA
members have offered to open their stations to Rookie ops. George-KC1V, Ed-
KB1NWH, Mike- N0HI and myself will have stations and help available. Feel
free to contact us if you would like to participate.
The only taker I'm aware of so far is Matt, W1MSW. Matt will be journeying
to Brimfield (KK1W land) to operate the contest.
Any others out there? Let's not keep this a secret, get the word out - the
more participants the more fun.
'73 and if you have any questions please post them to this list - we will
try to answer them to the best of our ability.
