Hi gang,
We're a little less than two weeks away to the most fun event of the year
for our club - the Annual Auction! As usual it will be held on the first
Friday of November, at our regular meeting location. If you've been to one
in the past you know how much fun it is and the bargains that can be had. If
you haven't yet had the pleasure then 'come on down'! It isn't necessary to
be a club member and certainly bring a friend. The more people, the more fun
- kind of like a local amusement park ad we know so well? Oh yeah, in case
you didn't know it is free to both buyers and sellers - now what's your
excuse?
We are once again looking for donations of equipment for the auction. Do
you, or do you know of anyone, that has a surplus of amateur radio or
electronic junque that would be perfect for our auction? If so either
contact me (Jim, KK1W) or any board member. We will be happy to travel a
reasonable distance (50 mile radius) and pick up said 'junque'. All the
monies collected off the sales will benefit HCRA and or programs throughout
the year AND it isn't any effort on your part.
You can still come to the auction but you won't have to pack any stuff -
that's pretty cool, isn't it? More fun, less work - what more can anyone ask
for?
We have transport vehicles and people to do the pick ups so just call and we
will do the rest. Don't have something yourself but maybe know of someone
who does? Pass the word and give them my phone number (at the end of this
message) I will take it from there and thanks!
New at the auction this year will be something to please any hams appetite.
HOT DOGS and SODA! Now you can skip the empty donut calories and go right
for the gusto! Jim, K1JAW will be manning the hot dog machine that was
generously donated by Jack, K1JEB - dishing out hot dogs and fixin's to
anyone wanting a little snack as the auction transpires.
Also new this year is a computer POS (point of sale) system that will make
it WAY easier for KC1V to keep track of the sales, provide receipts for the
vendors/purchasers and make things move more quickly throughout the evening.
Thanks Bob, W1SQ, for making this custom system available to us this year.
That's it for now, mark your calendar, clean up your 'junque', visit the ATM
and be at the auction on November 6th - well do the rest to make sure you
have a great time!
Jim, KK1W
Got junque - call 413-237-4666. You call, we haul!
(sorry - no computer monitors or printers please. Experience shows they
don't sell well, if at all, and we have no way to dispose of them correctly)
