Here's a note to those prospective kit builders out there, and it may also
be of interest to prospective Elmer's as well.

I'm sure we're all aware of Kit Program V2.0 featuring the Rock-Mite
transceiver from Small Wonder Labs. At least six members have already signed
up for the kit and even more to help with construction and operation. While
doing some internet research on the kit I came across a 'Heathkit' style
instruction manual that takes the builder through the whole process from
beginning to end. Like the venerable Heathkit of the past this is a
step-by-step manual with photographs and instructions. With this manual in
hand it will pretty much guarantee a working kit when completed.

You can download the manual at:
http://homepage.mac.com/bsandersen/ars_ne1rd/Building/SmallWonder/rockmite.h
tml

Download the file 'Rockmite-build-manual-a.pdf'. 49 pages of step-by-step
instructions. Either print it out or take your laptop to the shop while
building.

There is also a Rock-Mite user group on Yahoo at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Rock-Mite_Group/

It's nice to see so much interest in the Rock-Mite project. From
construction to operating I know all the participants will have an fun with
an interesting project. No matter how it turns out it will be a learning
experience that will enhance your fun with amateur radio.

'73 and see you at the Holiday Party,

Jim, KK1W
