OK folks, today is the day!

As you read this setup is well underway at beautiful Dufresne Park in
Granby, MA. See the latest announcement and a map at our website,
http://www.hcra.org <http://www.hcra.org/> .

Yesterday's bout of severe weather in CT serves to heighten the reason for
the type of emergency communication amateur radio can supply. Field Day is
our practice exercise and keeps us ready to go when needed.

Although we only rented the park for two days this year we still managed to
get out to Dufresne yesterday and shoot all the rope supports for the wire
antennas. This morning Ed and the setup crew are putting up the towers,
assembling the antennas and rigging the emergency power. Keeping everyone
stoked with enough calories to stay working is Jim, NN1Y and his helpers
with coffee, muffins and bagels. The band captains are arriving with their
stations and housing and everyone is hustling to be 'on the air' by 2:00 PM
this afternoon with seven station calling CQ Field Day, this is W1NY FD.

If you're planning on coming out this is old news. If you've been on the
fence why not make a decision and 'come on down'! We've got stations to
operate if you want to, we can use help or advice if you're so inclined and
if you just want to see a great FD operation, chat with the crew and have
some grub that's OK to. This is our hobby's best exposure to the general
public, come down and help share your enthusiasm.

'73 for now,

Jim, KK1W
