Blake, W1IM, mentioned on Friday night that a friend of his had a full-up VHF roving station, complete with radios and beams, that may be interested in doing VHF for us. He'll let me know soon if this will happen.

I'd like to leave room for this scenario, but while not knowing if he will be able to work it, continue making other plans for the VHF station. I think if we have someone who has all the pieces, is able to setup all of his own station, and is used to the equipment, we are better off.

Subject: Field Day VHF Station

Hello,

If anyone wants to put a VHF/UHF station on the air for Field Day, I'll be
glad to loan some equipment to the cause. I have a 6-el Hygain 6-meter Yagi
that is really a nice antenna (~28' boom), a 13-el Cushcraft 2-m Boomer
(pretty fair antenna) and I have a couple smaller (12 or 13 element) 432
antennas. I may have a pair of 15-el Qagis by FD time. I also have a
rotator that will turn anything we would want to put up. I'll bring my
FT-897D if nothing better is available. The FT-897 is fine on 6 and pretty
good on 2, but doesn't hear that well on 70 cm and only outputs 10 watts.
For FD, sticking to just 6 and 2 is probably okay anyway.

I can help with the antenna setup, but won't have much time to operate.

Don't forget, the ARRL Spring VHF Contest is this coming weekend.

73,

George, KC1V
